It Is Time for a Change

People nowadays use eyes in a wrong way, particularly children and young people. They use their eyes in unhealthy ways, namely the misuse and abuse of eyes—too hard, too close, too long, without looking up and away and taking any rest. By doing so, larger pupils, pains, strains, and headaches, eyes are developed through the normal into myopia. This occurs to over ten out of a hundred children and young people. Twenty-five years ago it was only a few per thousand. So here is the consequence: more and more of them are wearing eyeglasses.

The first pair of glasses is not offered as a panacea for eyes. Eyes stay the same. So eyeglasses should be replaced by new ones according to the changing condition of eyes.

Generally speaking, after getting the first pair of eyeglasses, most of people will not change them until they are broken or they can not be used anymore. According to a recent large-scale investigation, among customers who use plastic lenses, about 30% of them change their glasses every three years or even longer. Worse still, many of them will not have a change until the glasses are broken. Without any exceptional circumstance, eyeglasses should be changed about every two years for adjustment and upgrade. If there is a scratch on the lens, the optical correction of eyeglasses will be affected. If the frame of eyeglasses is twisted or loosened, the focus of eyeglasses will not meet the pupil center, which is harmful to our eyes. So it is necessary to check them regularly, take good care of them and thus put them under good working condition.

For teenagers whose eyes deteriorate at a faster speed, they need to change eyeglasses every six months to one year. They sit too close to the television or computer for a super long time, which causes ciliary muscle fatigue and the strength of their eyes progress to two or three diopters. If eyeglasses are not fit for the improving diopter strength where the increased myopia comes from, eyes will grow worse and worse.

As for seniors, presbyopic glasses should also be changed at regular intervals. Presbyopia is caused by ageing lens. When people grow older and older, lens aging problem becomes worse, and at the same time the glasses will not fit the changing eyes. When seniors have problems in reading newspapers even with their glasses and they also feel pain and discomfort in eyes, it means they need a change.

It is true that if eyeglasses are overused, they will make eyes worse, which is not well known to most of people who wear eye glasses, but some people do know that they need a change. However, they would not do so by taking money and other troublesome things into consideration. It is difficult for people to find a gorgeous pair of glasses at a low price. And changing a new one requires going to the hospital and having a recheck of eyes. In addition, a perfect match is not that easily to be found.

Besides, never underestimate the value of the right pair of glasses, which can flatter your face, give you a right and bright look and make a brand-new you! So go home, look yourself straight into the mirror and say to yourself, go get a new pair of glasses now!
