Summer is coming, and the burning sun threatened our brittle skin again. In this torrid summer day, I think many people have prepared sunscreen or parasol or sun bonnet like I did. Is that enough? Definitely not. When I go shopping or do some outdoor activities, I feel very unwell the sun shines on my eyes. Most of time my eyes are really tired and sore, or even become vision blurred. So I know I need a pair of sunglasses. But how to choose proper sunglasses is not an easy thing. Next I want to share with you some information about the sunglasses choosing which I collected for several days. I hope it’s useful for your guys.
First, you should know your purpose of choosing sunglasses.
There are so many kinds of sunglasses which are for different groups and occasions. Before buying sunglasses, the first thing we must assure is what we look for in a pair of sunglasses? For sun-shading or just as a decoration? Do we need the UV protection besides sun-shading? Do we have the special require about lens? Only after clearing these purposes and combining the patterns of sunglasses and our face shapes, we can choose the most proper sunglasses.
Second, try to understand the product marks.
1. Marks about the function of anti- ultraviolet.
Most of people wanna have a pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes from harmful UV rays, and reduce eye strain in bright conditions. So they put UV protection on their must-have list. When we choose a pair of sunglasses, we must check labels to make sure the sunglasses provide 100 percent UVA and UVB protection. The label should read either UV 400 or 100% UV protection.
2. Marks about safety performance.
Some sunglasses have safety performance and their lenses are made by some impact materials like PC lens. In the labels and instructions of this kind of sunglasses, we should find the following marks, such as impact resistance, in line with the highest standard of Europe and the United States, and so on. If the product is printed these marks, it’s a good choice for drivers and motorcyclists who are have special demand of safety.
Third, we should learn some knowledge of sunglasses lens tints.
Recently, sunglasses lenses are coming in all colors. Many people may have this kind of question “do these sunglasses with different color have the same effect of UV protection?” Actually, there is no relationship between color and UV protection. Many people think that the lens color like pink or yellow is bad to our eyes. Oppositely, dark lenses with no UV protection are worse for the eye than light lenses with UV protection because the dark color allows pupils to dilate and be more susceptible to UV damage. Different colors have different function of light intensity adjustment. Usually, gray seems the better choice because it can equably reduce brightness, but do not distort color. Other colors like blue, will distort color to make the object you saw tend to blue; and yellow lens tints reduce the haze from blue light, so they really sharpen up the view, but they cause more color distortion.
Ok, the above are some useful knowledge I collected about choosing sunglasses. Hoping all the people can learn something from these, and don’t forget to put a safety coat on your eyes which will keep your eyes beautiful and healthy in this hot summer.
