The final examination is coming. I’m faced with several papers in front of me. To finish them before the deadline, I have to spend several whole days in front of my computer, to search for information and to write the papers. It’s really a tough job.

After a long day’s work, I feel dizzy and weak. My eyes feel dry and ache, as if they just come from a vast desert. I know I have to rest now; otherwise my eyes are going to be blind.

So have you ever had such experience? I’m sure you have. To those who have to sit before computers everyday, problems in terms of eyes are inevitable, but adjustable.

First, change the color of your computer screen. That’s easy. Open “control panel” and you will see Display. Then choose Appearance, and then Advanced and you will get Items, in which you shall choose Windows, then Color and “Others”. Here you need set Hue at 85, Sat at 90 and Lum at 205. After all these steps, you click “Add” and then you “add to custom colors”. Finish all these and all you need do is to click “Ok”. When you finish these clicks, you will get an eye-friendly color for your computer screen. As to what the color exactly is, well you have to see yourself.

After changing your window’s screen, next step is to change your Internet background color. First open IE, click Tools, choose Internet Options, click Assessibility at the right bottom and then choose “Ignore colors specified on web pages”. By clicking OK, you will see IE background color be changed into the same eye-friendly color as your screen.

Only some clicks can give your eyes a different feeling and a magic protection. At first, you may be unaccustomed to this new color since you are used to white for so long time, but believe me, try it and you will get surprised.

Second, if you have to work for a long in front of computers, you are advised to grow some small plants in your computer room. Plants, on one hand, will generate oxygen and help clean the air in your room. Clean air can help you keep a clear mind. On the other hand, plants will increase moisture in your room and therefore do good to eyes. Also with green plants by your side, you’ll in a good mood.

Eyes are really important to us. When you are working hard and your eyes begin to protect, never ignore them. Try to rest or give eyes some protection.

Due to the fact that people who wear glasses often struggle to squint at things, in addition to the oppression from glasses’ frame to the eyeballs, they are usually easy to get wrinkles ahead of time. At the same time, dark circles, bags of eyes and other problems come out. Which undoubtedly make the girls unable to have a pair of charming eyes.

Ophthalmologists have pointed out that the people wearing eyeglasses should not squint when seeing things for long or often blink deliberately. for which would keep eyelid muscle in constant nerves, thus triggering the occurrence of wrinkles. So don’t neglect the eye when using the water spray. In addition, eye movement can strenghten the skin around the eyes and make it elastic. For example, try to open the eyes as large as possible, maitain a few seconds, then slowly close the eyes, and open the eyes again when the upper eyelid will touch the lower one, remember the movement should be relaxative.

Generally speaking, the skin of the ocular region of the people wearing eyeglasses starts to aging at the age of 15. That is to say, people of this kind should maintain the skin of their ocular region since 15 years old. The people who wear glasses should pay special attention to the salubriousness when they are choosing all kinds of eye protective recovery. If one uses eye ointment with high resistance against wrinkles too often, he or she may easily be the victim of eczema, allergies, speck of fat and so on. The around skin and eyes keep in close proximity to the lenses. Bacteria which are on the surface of lenses are asy to transfer to eyes and skin around eyes, and this can lead to the inflammation of eyes and also can result the aging of skin around eyes at an advanced time. Therefore, wearers must clean their glasses regularly. You have to do an optometry every half a year if your are a myopic sufferer or presbyopia, and you must change your eyeglasses on time.

The Somerset County Office for the Disabled will be holding a “spring-cleaning” collection of used prescription eyeglasses through April.

The public is invited to donate used eyewear that will be given to people home and abroad who do not have access to eye care.

Eyeglasses may be placed in a drop box in the lobby of the Somerset County Human Services Building at 27 Warren St., in Somerville weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free parking is available in the visitors’ parking lot at the corner of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Warren Street. Metered parking also is available on Main Street.

“This is the fifth year the county is collecting eyeglasses,” said Freeholder Patricia Walsh, human services liaison. “Thanks to the public’s generosity, more than 3,000 eyeglasses have been donated in past collections.”

Collected eyeglasses will be distributed by New Eyes for the Needy of Short Hills to medical missions and international charitable organizations around the globe. Residents of the United States will be given vouchers, which they then can use to purchase new prescription eyeglasses.

New Eyes for the Needy is a non-profit organization that has been distributing used eyeglasses since 1932 to people who are in desperate need of them.

In addition to prescription eyewear, the Office for the Disabled will be collecting nonprescription sunglasses and precious metal scraps, such as old watches, jewelry, silverware and hearing aides. These items are sold for their metal content to buy prescription lenses.
